Is Raya worth it? What its own listing commits to
Raya's Apple US listing, read 8 October 2026, commits to an application, a wait of days to months and 1, 6 or 12-month terms. The text read shows no price.
Is Raya worth it? Only if you will apply without a price in the listing text. Raya’s Apple US listing, read by this desk on 8 October 2026, commits to an application-only membership, a committee review that can run “from days to months”, and 1, 6 or 12-month auto-renewing terms. The listing text read shows no itemised price.
This is an evergreen question, and we have answered it the way we answer every “worth it”: from what the operator itself puts in writing, set against what the reviews that rank for the question claim. Nobody here applied, paid or swiped. We read Raya’s App Store listing and the two first-person reviews below on 8 October 2026.
What does Raya’s own listing commit to?
More than most selective apps, and less than a buyer needs. The listing describes Raya as a private global community for dating, friendship or professional networking. Membership is by application only; a global committee reviews applications on an ongoing basis; and review, “based on a number of factors”, can range from days to months. The factors are not named. That is a timetable with a very wide mouth, and no standard.
What follows acceptance is stated plainly: a 1, 6 or 12-month membership, offered as an auto-renewing subscription that “you can manage or cancel” at any time. Those three terms are the clearest commitment on the page, and neither of the two reviews read, in the text returned to us, mentions them.
How much is Raya per month?
The listing will not tell you. It says free with in-app purchases, and in the text this desk read, no dollar figure appeared against any term. That is a scoped finding: it describes the listing text returned to us on one day, not every screen Raya shows a member. Our Raya vs The League comparison recorded price lines from an earlier read of the same listing; this read did not show them, so we print none as current.
The number in circulation comes from Brown Bodies, Anisah Osman Britton’s January 2026 account of two months on the app: once accepted, she writes, it costs £20 or $24.99 a month, with a premium option at roughly double. She paid the pound figure herself. She cites no Raya page for either, and the same piece attributes a waitlist of 2.5 million-plus and a user base in the low six figures to Raya without a link. Treat all three as her report, not Raya’s.
Is the wait part of the price?
It is the larger part. Brown Bodies applied in October 2024 with 11 referrals and got in about September 2025, “almost a year”. Dating by Blaine, a coach’s review dated October 6, 2026, says a current member typically has to invite you, that referrals guarantee nothing, and that an unapproved application stays pending with no rejection message. Blaine also describes a Map “social mode”, a Directory and pay-to-play DMs; the last is her description, not a feature the listing names.
So the applicant pays in time before paying in money, and is never told the test. We filed Raya on exactly that rung when we set Lox Club against it: the outcome arrives, the criteria do not.
Is Raya worth it? The verdict
We grade disclosure, not glamour. Raya scores below Lox Club, whose FAQ prints a fee against each term, as our Lox Club worth-it assessment sets out. It scores above an app that states nothing, because the 1, 6 and 12-month terms and the cancel-any-time line are on the record. Whether the pool is worth the money is a question about people, and no listing answers it; whether the offer can be priced before you commit is a question about disclosure, and on 8 October 2026 the listing text read answered no.
Questions readers ask
How much is Raya per month? The Apple US listing text this desk read on 8 October 2026 shows no itemised price; it says only that the app is free with in-app purchases and that accepted members choose a 1, 6 or 12-month membership. Brown Bodies, in January 2026, put it at £20 or $24.99 a month with a premium tier at roughly double, citing no source.
How long does Raya take to accept you? Raya’s listing says applications are reviewed by a global committee on an ongoing basis and that review can range from days to months, based on a number of factors it does not name. Brown Bodies reports applying in October 2024 with 11 referrals and getting in around September 2025. Dating by Blaine says an unapproved application simply stays pending.
How do dating apps like Raya work and what features do they offer? On Raya’s own account, you apply, a committee decides, and accepted members pay for a term. The listing names three features: Daily Recommendations, Maps and Directory, and says the app serves dating, friendship and professional networking. Dating by Blaine adds a daily queue of a few profiles, a required Instagram handle and paid messages before a match.
Can you cancel Raya at any time? The listing says memberships are offered as auto-renewing subscriptions and that you can manage or cancel your subscription at any time. That is the whole of what this desk could read. Raya’s own terms page did not render readable text for us, so we make no claim about refunds, part-used terms or renewal notice.
Before the committee writes back, decide which term you would take and look at the price the in-app screen shows on the day, not the one a review remembers. A committee’s yes says nothing about anyone’s identity or safety. This site is for readers aged 18 and over; membership prices and terms change often, so confirm the current terms with the provider before you commit.
