How to get accepted on Raya: what its own pages state
Raya's About page and Terms, read 15 October 2026: an application, a committee of hundreds, a day to months, three criteria, three bars. Rumours checked.
To get accepted on Raya you fill out an application, which is assessed by algorithm and by “hundreds of committee members”; a decision takes a day to a few months. Raya says applications require referrals, yet admits people with no one to vouch for them. You must be 18 or over. Those not admitted go on a waitlist.
That is the procedure as the two Raya pages read state it. This desk read Raya’s About page and its Terms of Use, updated December 5, 2023, on 15 October 2026. The question is evergreen; the pages are what change, so the dates matter more than the hook.
How to get accepted on Raya: who decides
Anyone interested must apply. The About page says applications are assessed “based on algorithmic values as well as input from hundreds of committee members”, who are anonymous to each other. Committee members are asked to picture a dinner party for ten and ask whom they would invite. The Terms add that “all applications will be considered”, with Raya keeping “sole discretion” over who is admitted, and that by applying you agree to texts and emails about your application’s status.
What Raya looks for in applicants
Three criteria, in Raya’s own headings. Your work: what stands out as creative, what you are known for. Familiarity: a common bond with members, “It’s why applications require referrals.” Something extra: NASA scientists and poets admitted with “no affiliation or anyone to vouch for them”; Instagrams, websites and blogs are called “very helpful”.
Then three absolutes. Applicants must not be under 18, and Raya says it “very often” IDs applicants to ensure this; must not have any depiction of hate, racism, bullying or violence; and must not show “consistent displays of excessive shows of wealth”. The Terms add that applicants represent they have never been convicted of a felony and are not required to register as a sex offender.
The rumours, checked against Raya’s own pages
Popsugar’s guide, updated June 9, 2025 and read by this desk on 15 October 2026, is the source of the figures most often repeated.
| Claim | Who says it | What Raya’s pages state |
|---|---|---|
| Reviewers “allegedly” total 500 | Popsugar | “Hundreds of committee members”; no number |
| A “rumored 10,000-plus-person waitlist” | Popsugar | No size given; people leave the waiting list “every day” |
| The website states no qualifications | Popsugar | Three named criteria and three bars on the About page |
| A member’s referral is “the prevailing theory” | Popsugar, quoting Dr. Melancon | “Applications require referrals”, beside admissions with no one to vouch |
| The form asks for an Instagram username | Popsugar | Instagrams “very helpful”; neither page lists the form’s fields |
The amount of the membership fee is not stated on either page read (the About page says only that new members pay monthly fees); our assessment of what Raya’s listing commits to covers it, and Lox Club vs Raya and Raya vs The League set the gate beside its rivals’.
Frequently asked questions
Can you get on Raya without a referral? Raya’s About page, read on 15 October 2026, says both things. It states that applications require referrals, and in the next section that people with no affiliation or anyone to vouch for them have been admitted. The Terms of Use list the extent of an applicant’s connection to existing members among the factors the membership committee considers. Neither page says whether Raya contacts your referrals.
How long does it take to get accepted on Raya? Raya’s About page, read on 15 October 2026, says application decision times can range anywhere from a day to a few months. It gives no average and no figure for how many applicants are admitted, and neither the About page nor the Terms of Use names a point at which an application expires.
Does Raya reject people or just leave them on the waitlist? The Terms of Use, updated December 5, 2023 and read on 15 October 2026, state that those not granted access will be placed on the waitlist, which a dedicated team continually reviews. The About page adds that people are removed from the waiting list and admitted every day. Neither page describes a formal rejection.
