Raya’s privacy policy, Terms of Use and US App Store listing, read on 16 October 2026, never mention read receipts. Mashable’s explainer answers no, without citing Raya. What Raya does state: your match sees what you send, screenshots are banned, and chats are not promised to stay secure.

That is the whole answer, and it is worth being precise about where it comes from. This desk read Raya’s privacy policy, headed “Updated and Effective May 6, 2020”, its Terms of Use, updated December 5, 2023, and its US App Store listing on 16 October 2026. A search of each for the word “receipt” found nothing. The question is evergreen; the documents are what change, so their dates matter more than any hook. Nobody here has tested the app, and no claim below rests on using it.

Does Raya have read receipts, according to anyone?

One editorial page near the top of the search results gives an answer. Mashable’s explainer, dated 19 February 2026, puts it in its FAQ: no, Raya does not have read receipts, and it has a strict no-screenshot policy. It may well be right. But it is one sentence, and it points to no Raya page, so it is reported here as Mashable’s answer rather than Raya’s. Most of the rest of the first page is forum threads, video captions and pages about other apps.

The distinction is not pedantry. An app that says nothing in its documents about a feature is free to add or remove it in an update without changing a word of its policies. A privacy policy last revised in 2020 is not a feature list.

Can the other person see when you have read a message on Raya?

Nothing read says so. The privacy policy’s one sentence on the subject is about content, not status: should you talk through the service by text chat, status post or video chat, “that user with whom you are communicating will see the content of that interaction.” That sentence says nothing about a seen marker or a read status. The App Store listing describes Daily Recommendations, Maps and Directory, and says members “control their visibility within the community”, which refers to who finds you, not who knows you have read their message.

Can you screenshot on Raya?

Not within the rules. The Terms list prohibited activities for which Raya reserves the right to “investigate, suspend or terminate your account”, and item (vii) is “taking screenshots or otherwise copying, disclosing or sharing content from the app”. Item (vi), beside it, is disclosing the identity of any user. The clause expressly reaches conduct “occurring outside of the Service”, so a screenshot shared in a group chat elsewhere is still in scope.

What the Terms describe is a sanction, not a mechanism. Neither document read says the app blocks screenshots, detects them or tells the other member when one is taken. The stated consequence is losing the account, which for a member who went through an application reviewed by a committee is not a trivial penalty.

Is Raya chat private, and does Raya delete messages?

Members-only by design; secure by promise, no. The privacy policy says Raya does “not promise, nor you should expect, that your information, chats, or other communications will always remain secure.” This post makes no claim about encryption on Raya’s behalf; the policy’s own words are the limit.

On deletion, the policy describes a three-month safety retention window after you delete your account, during which account information is kept though no longer visible in the app. After that window, or after two years of continuous inactivity, Raya says it deletes or anonymises your information, unless it must keep it to comply with law, to resolve an outstanding claim or dispute, or for legitimate interests such as fraud prevention and user safety. It adds that it cannot promise all data will be deleted within a specific timeframe. Nothing read says that deleting a single conversation removes it from the other member’s phone.

Frequently asked questions

Does Raya have read receipts? Mashable’s Raya explainer, dated 19 February 2026, says no, without citing a Raya document. Raya’s own privacy policy, Terms of Use and US App Store listing, read by this desk on 16 October 2026, do not mention read receipts at all, so those documents give no answer either way. Features change; the documents are what can be checked.

Can guys see when I have read their message on Raya? None of the three Raya documents read on 16 October 2026 says so. The privacy policy states only that the member you are talking to will see the content of a text chat, status post or video chat. It describes no seen marker and no read indicator, and Mashable’s explainer says Raya has no read receipts, though it cites no Raya page for that.

Can you screenshot on Raya? Raya’s Terms of Use, updated December 5, 2023, list taking screenshots or otherwise copying, disclosing or sharing content from the app among prohibited activities, for which Raya may investigate, suspend or terminate an account. That is a rule, not a stated technical block: neither the Terms nor the privacy policy read says the app detects, prevents or reports a screenshot.

Who is eligible for Raya? Raya’s US App Store listing, read on 16 October 2026, carries an 18+ age rating and says membership is available by application only, reviewed by a global committee, with review taking from days to months. Accepted members choose a one, six or twelve-month membership, sold as an auto-renewing subscription. The listing names no other eligibility criteria.

Write to a Raya match as though the conversation could outlast the app, because the policy does not promise otherwise. This site is for readers aged 18 and over. Raya’s statements above were read from its privacy policy, Terms of Use and App Store listing on 16 October 2026; features, membership prices and terms change often, so confirm the current terms with Raya before you commit.
